I was contacted by a representative from Staples to do a review of one of their products recently. As luck would have it, I was in need of a new digital camera, having recently misplaced my Canon and being a product reviewer, digital cameras are a must-have. So, having used a Canon, I thought I would try an Olympus VG-160.
Shipping was quick and the product was well-packed. The camera came with just about everything you’ll need to get started, with the exception of a memory card (which was provided to me by Staples to help fascilitate this review). The only downside was that it came with a CD-ROM, and I have a MacBook Air, which does not have a CD-ROM drive. Also, the instructions indicated that the preferred operating system is Windows. Alas, outside of registering the product using the software, it hasn’t really been needed.
As soon as you turn the camera on, it prompts you with easy instructions on setting up your camera, which only took a few minutes. There is a sidebar displayed that lets you know what settings are currently being used. The instruction manual included gives very quick and easy instructions on changing any settings for taking the best pictures.
Having recently used a Canon Power Shot, which I loved, I have to say this is even easier to use and takes awesome pictures, and this little baby comes at half the price of what I paid for the Canon. It comes in four colors and is so tiny it will easily fit in your pocket.
My favorite features of this great little camera:
- All-metal body
- 5x wide angle zoom lens (5x optical/4x digital zoom)
- 14 Megapixels
- 14 scene modes
- Magic Filter effects (with everyone getting so creative with programs like Instagram, this is a cool new feature)
- HD movie video recording.
There are many more features, which can be found on the product website.
As most of you know, I have four kids and two little dogs, which means a lot of action shots in our household. This was not a problem in capturing some cute moments with my dogs for this review. Coco, my little black dog, is hard to capture in picture due to her size and color. A lot of times you can’t capture just how cute she is, but I was able to capture some great pictures of her. As for Bubbles, well, she is only 6 months old, so she never stops moving. I could not get her to sit still for a shot, but that didn’t stop me from getting great pictures of her. This camera was able to capture cute moments without all the blur! Here are some of the great pictures of Coco and Bubbles I took for the review.
You can purchase this awesome little camera through the Staples website.
